Abstract

Supplementation of the minced meat diet with a homoeopathic glandular preparation (Testes 3X) promoted growth of catfish Heteropneustes fossilis and increased the tissue concentrations of RNA, protein and glycogen. DNA content per unit weight of tissue declined. Presumably, cellular DNA content remained constant. Testes 3X ingredient caused lipolysis and hydration in the body tissue. RNA/DNA ratio emerged as an index of the living condition of fish. Specific growth rate, Food conversion efficiency and food quotient were enhanced after the supplementation of testes 3X.
