Abstract
Negotiation and spirituality may seem to belong to opposing domains, yet they reveal a powerful potential for convergence. Far from weakening strategic clarity, spiritual practice strengthens negotiation by fostering presence, intention, and trust. This chapter explores how negotiation engages the whole person—mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual—through emotional intelligence, embodied awareness, and meta-attention. Four spiritual capacities emerge: presence and energy regulation, intuitive and vibratory listening, the search for shared meaning beyond positions, and meditative detachment. These dimensions transform negotiation from a tactical exchange into a path of alignment. Seen through a spiritual lens, the negotiator becomes an alchemist, capable of transmuting conflict into creative agreement. Echoing Mandela’s words: “to encourage negotiation where there is conflict, and to give hope where there is despair”. This vision elevates negotiation to a sacred space of unity. In a world increasingly in search of meaning, spiritual leadership rooted in regular inner practice offers a freely chosen, constructive posture to serve both organizations and society.
