Abstract
Aspirin is not new to the world of medicine. In the past most of the research work carried out on this drug has been focused on its anti-inflammatory, cardio-protective and as an endogenous inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis. There has been considerable interest also on the potential role of aspirin as an immune modulator and anti-cancer agent. This is paralleled by its dynamic role in various surgical fields like obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics and ophthalmology.
