Abstract
This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier policy on article withdrawal (https://www.elsevier.com/about/policies-and-standards/article-withdrawal). This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor. Post-publication, an investigation conducted on behalf of the journal by Elsevier's Research Integrity & Publishing Ethics team identified a concern around the authenticity of the following figures/image panels: Figure 4 Panel E from the current article and Figure 1 from the below article published in Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, on which Taghrid S. AlOmar, Abdur Rauf, Umer Rashid, Sehrish Sarfaraz, Khurshid Ayub, Fahad Hussain, Najla Almasoud, Abdulaziz S. AlOmar, Gauhar Rehman, Zubair Ahmad, Naveed Muhammad, and Zafar Ali Shah also appear as coauthors, appear to depict the same source image but are described as representing different experimental samples. (S. AlOmar, T., Rauf, A., Rashid, U., Sarfaraz, S., Ayub, K., Hussain, F., Ali Shah, Z. (2023). Molecular docking, DFT studies, and anti-inflammatory evaluation of peshawaraquinone isolated from Fernandoa adenophylla. Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 42(20), 1060410616. https://doi.org/10.1080/07391102.2023.2258402) It was felt that the explanation provided was unsatisfactory in resolving these concerns. The investigation also revealed that the acceptance of this article was partly based upon the positive advice of reviewers who were closely linked to five of the authors: Abdur Rauf, Naveed Muhammad, Umer Rashid, Gauhar Rehman and Taghrid S. Alomar. This compromised the editorial process and breached the journal's policies. The Editor has determined that the findings of the article cannot be relied upon, and has decided to retract the article. The authors disagree with retraction and dispute the grounds for it.
