Abstract

Selective laser trabeculoplasty is an effective and safe treatment option for patients with open-angle glaucoma, and has also demonstrated efficacy in other forms of open-angle glaucoma. It has similar IOP-lowering effects to ALT; however, it avoids the destructive, scarring effects on the TM, and subsequently has the potential for repeatability. SLT has also been shown to be a useful adjunct to medical therapy or as a primary therapy for patients who are noncompliant or intolerant of their glaucoma medications.
