Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Vitamin D is essential for maintaining calcium balance and supporting various aspects of health, including neurological, cardiovascular, immune, and reproductive functions. During pregnancy, adequate vitamin D levels are crucial for fetal development, particularly for bone growth and overall health. This paper explores the metabolism of vitamin D in pregnant women, its impact on both the mother and baby, and the risks associated with vitamin D deficiency. The study highlights the importance of supplementation to prevent complications like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, preterm birth, and potential long-term effects on the child’s development.
