Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: Primary objective: To study the effect of vitamin D supplementation alone or in combination with calcium, for preventing recurrent stroke (fatal or non-fatal) among patients with a prior history of stroke or TIA. Secondary objective: To assess the effect of vitamin D supplementation with or without calcium for the prevention of composite vascular events (stroke, MI, PAD and death from vascular cause) and all-cause mortality, in patients with a prior history of stroke or TIA.
